However, there is still no clear timetable for when the Greek Cypriot administration could be admitted to the programme.

Haravgi reported, citing Cyprus News Agency (CNA) information and “authoritative sources”, that Washington had confirmed progress by the Greek Cypriot side in completing the technical obligations required for participation in the Visa Waiver Programme.

The issue was also discussed during a visit to Cyprus last July by Robert Law, Under Secretary for Strategy, Policy and Plans at the US Department of Homeland Security.

Following Law’s meeting with Greek Cypriot Presidential Undersecretary Irene Piki, the Greek Cypriot side announced that it had completed the necessary technical criteria for participation.

However, according to the report, no firm timetable has yet been established for the Greek Cypriot administration’s inclusion in the US Visa Waiver Programme.
