Üstel attended a tea party organised by the UBP Girne Women’s Branch together with his wife, Zerrin Üstel.

Addressing the upcoming local elections on December 6, Üstel highlighted projects and services he said had been delivered under UBP governments, attributing them to political stability.

He said women had worked with great dedication for the UBP during election periods and described the large turnout at the event in Girne as an important indication of women’s support for the party and their determination ahead of the elections.

Saying the election campaign would be conducted in a spirit of unity and solidarity, Üstel said: “We will all see on December 7. On December 7, we will celebrate the result of this struggle together.”

“THE UBP GOVERNMENT BUILDS THE ROADS, HOSPITALS AND SCHOOLS”

Üstel accused some mayors of attempting to take credit for services carried out by the government.

“Unfortunately, some opportunistic mayors are coming out and trying to take credit for the roads that have been built,” he said.

“The roads were built by the UBP government. The hospitals were built by the UBP government. The schools were built by the UBP government. The laws were enacted by the UBP government. The services delivered are there for everyone to see.

“Let them come out and tell the public: Which road did they build? Which hospital did they build? Which school did they build? Which project did they complete?

“What we have done is clear. We do not talk, we deliver. As the UBP government, we make promises, we work and we deliver projects for our country.”

ZERRİN ÜSTEL: “OUR WOMEN ARE OUT ON THE GROUND FOR THE UBP

Speaking at the event, Zerrin Üstel also highlighted the work carried out by women for the UBP during election campaigns.

“Our women are also out on the ground. We see how, especially during election periods, the work carried out by our women has lifted the UBP from strength to strength,” she said.

She described the turnout at the event as a positive sign, saying: “I see this and I sincerely believe in it.”

Zerrin Üstel said women’s branches in İskele, Famagusta, Nicosia and Lefke, as well as Girne, were actively campaigning, adding that the UBP’s efforts for the future of the country were growing with the contribution of women.
