Search Continues for 18 Missing After Filo Jet Disaster
Search and rescue operations are continuing for 18 people missing after the passenger ship operating on the Kyrenia-Taşucu route capsized, with authorities in the TRNC and Turkey coordinating the response.
Search and rescue efforts have continued without interruption since the maritime disaster, with authorities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Turkey working in coordination.
According to the latest figures, 267 passengers were on board the vessel. So far, 249 passengers have been accounted for, with 241 rescued and eight confirmed dead.
A TAK correspondent monitoring the operation at the site of the wreck reported that parts of the passenger vessel had been scattered over a wide area of the sea. A suitcase was also found, and teams were carrying out a detailed examination of the items recovered.
A Turkish Naval Forces vessel capable of conducting searches at depths of up to 1,000 metres, along with a search and rescue vessel equipped to reach the wreck, are expected to inspect the site tomorrow.
