Erdoğan: We Will Work With TRNC Authorities to Hold Those Responsible Accountable
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the necessary steps would be taken in cooperation with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) authorities to determine the causes of the ship accident off Kyrenia and hold anyone responsible for negligence accountable.
Erdoğan made the remarks during a special programme marking Victory Day at the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center.
Recalling the accident involving a capsized passenger ship off Kyrenia, Erdoğan said the incident had deeply saddened everyone.
He expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives and offered his patience to their families, while also extending his wishes for a speedy recovery to the survivors.
“We will ensure that the necessary steps are taken in cooperation with the authorities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to determine the causes of the accident and, if there was negligence, hold those responsible accountable,” Erdoğan said.
He also prayed for the safety of the Turkish people and Turkish Cypriots, saying: “May God protect our nation and our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters from all kinds of accidents and disasters.”
