TCG Alemdar Also Heads to Kyrenia After TCG Işın
The Turkish Navy’s TCG Alemdar has been dispatched to the area to support ongoing search and rescue efforts for the wreck of the Filo Jet. The vessel is capable of conducting search and rescue operations at depths of up to 3,000 metres and is also equipped with submarine rescue capabilities.
Search and rescue operations continue for the Filo Jet, which first capsized and later sank while carrying 270 passengers from Kyrenia to Taşucu.
Following the arrival of the Turkish Navy’s TCG Işın, another rescue vessel, TCG Alemdar (A-582), has also been deployed to the area off Kyrenia.
Operating under the Turkish Navy’s Rescue and Underwater Command, TCG Alemdar is capable of conducting search and rescue operations at depths of up to 3,000 metres.
Commissioned on January 28, 2017, the vessel is equipped for deep-water underwater search and rescue operations as well as submarine rescue missions.
The arrival of TCG Alemdar is expected to provide additional technical capabilities for the ongoing search and rescue operation targeting the Filo Jet wreck, which is believed to be located at a depth of approximately 500 metres.
