According to Greek Cypriot media reports, the incident began on Ellados Street when police spotted the vehicle and signalled for it to stop. The driver allegedly ignored the warning and sped away.

During the chase, the vehicle was reportedly driven recklessly and dangerously, colliding with several other vehicles. Police also alleged that objects were thrown from the car towards officers.

Police reportedly fired shots into the air and at the vehicle’s tyres in an effort to end the pursuit. The chase came to an end near the Ypsonas traffic lights.

The two suspects were arrested and taken to a police station for questioning.

Greek Cypriot media reported that the 20-year-old, who allegedly drove the vehicle, was already known to police in connection with a similar incident.
