Kyrenia Ferry Disaster Death Toll Rises to 12

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said two more bodies, both women, have been recovered during the ongoing search operation off Kyrenia, bringing the death toll from the ferry disaster to 12.

Üstel said the bodies were recovered during deep-water search operations carried out by the Turkish Navy vessels TCG IŞIN and TCG ALEMDAR.

The Police General Directorate has begun efforts to identify the two victims.

Search operations for the 16 people still missing are continuing around the clock, Üstel said, with the support of Turkey and all relevant authorities.

He thanked Turkey, the Turkish Naval Forces Command, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, the Turkish Peace Forces Command and the Security Forces Command, as well as the commanders and personnel of TCG IŞIN and TCG ALEMDAR and all military and civilian teams involved in the search.

Üstel expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives, saying all teams would continue their efforts with the same determination to locate those still missing.
