Üstel: I Will Receive Report Today on Whether Filo Jet Wreck Can Be Raised

Üstel said search and rescue operations following the Filo Jet disaster off Kyrenia were continuing without interruption. He said six bodies had been recovered so far, while 14 people remained missing.

No additional body was recovered today, Üstel said, adding that the Alemdar and Işın vessels were continuing their search and rescue efforts around the clock.

He said specialist technical teams from Turkey were conducting inspections at the wreck and preparing a preliminary report on whether the vessel could be raised from the seabed.

Üstel said he would meet the companies in Istanbul to assess the reports and possible new steps to reach the missing people, continue operations inside the vessel or raise the wreck.

He also said he would meet senior officials from the vessel’s insurance company before travelling to Ankara for high-level talks on the situation and possible next steps.

Üstel said the government would use every available technical capability and explore all possible methods to locate the missing people.

“We will not leave a single question mark behind about whether there was anything else we could have done,” he said, thanking all teams working around the clock and expressing his condolences and support to the families of those still missing.
