Tolga Yeşil said he was demanded to pay $400,000 and was threatened with a social media “smear campaign” if he refused. He claimed posts targeting him were subsequently shared on social media.

Yeşil also alleged that he received threatening messages from numbers with the +49 country code, including messages saying, “Your uncle sends his regards.”

“We’re just doing our job,” Yeşil said.

He thanked the firefighters who responded to the incident and said the fire being extinguished and the suspects being arrested happened at around the same time.

Yeşil said one of the vehicles at the dealership was completely destroyed in the fire, while another was partially damaged.

He added that he had handed his phone to police following a threatening call about a month ago and that all his accounts had also been examined by the Financial Crimes Branch.

Police had earlier arrested A.B. (M-19) and A.A. (M-20), who were identified at Ercan Airport in connection with the incident.

The investigation is continuing.
