Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Turkey was supporting search efforts for the vessel that sank off Kyrenia with nine ships and 11 aircraft in cooperation with the TRNC.
Speaking after a Cabinet meeting, Erdoğan addressed the ferry disaster off Kyrenia.
“Fourteen of our brothers lost their lives in the tragic accident in Kyrenia. Fourteen are still missing. As Turkey, we are supporting the search efforts. The TRNC authorities have launched an investigation, and eight crew members, including the captain, have been detained,” Erdoğan said.
He added that search and rescue operations were also continuing for vessels that sank off Silivri due to human error.
“I wish a speedy recovery to those affected by the accidents and ask God to have mercy on those who lost their lives,” Erdoğan said.
