Mixed Voting System Abolished by Parliament
The mixed voting system has been abolished after the amendment was approved by a majority vote in the TRNC Parliament.
Under the new system, voters will no longer be able to distribute their votes among candidates from different political parties.
The “intra-party preference” system will remain in place.
The method of voting will therefore change for the general election scheduled to be held in December.
The Election and Referendum (Amendment) Bill was approved by a majority vote during the General Assembly session of the TRNC Parliament.
