Filo Jet Disaster Day 16: Third Search Vessel Joins Operations

Search efforts to locate the 14 people missing from the Express passenger vessel operated by Filo Jet, which capsized off Kyrenia on August 30, are continuing on the 16th day.

Search operations launched by sea, air and land following the disaster are continuing without interruption.

As 15 days have passed since the accident, relatives of those still missing continue to wait in hope. The operation has now entered a new phase with the arrival of additional search capacity.

THIRD SEARCH VESSEL ARRIVES IN AREA

The third search vessel deployed to support the operation has arrived off the coast of the TRNC.

The Optimus Prime, which is equipped with specialised technical capabilities, is expected to begin operations today and join search efforts at the wreck site where the Filo Jet sank.

The operation aims to intensify searches around the wreck and in deeper waters using the vessel’s additional equipment.

CTP Chairwoman Sıla Usar İncirli visited Kyrenia Port to receive information about the ongoing operations and assess the situation.

İncirli met with relatives of those still missing at the port before receiving a briefing from officials on the search operation and the latest developments.

ÜSTEL: “WE HAVE NOT GIVEN UP ON OUR MISSING”

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said in a message to the relatives of the missing that search operations would continue.

“Our families of the missing should know that our state has not given up on those who are missing. We will continue to use every means at our disposal to reach them,” Üstel said.

As efforts to locate the 14 people missing in the Filo Jet disaster continue, attention is now focused on the new search operation expected to begin at the wreck site today.
