Üstel: ‘Families Will Be Our Priority in the New Term’

Üstel said they would focus on projects that would contribute to household budgets and directly improve daily life, while continuing major investments with the support of the Republic of Turkey and aiming to resolve infrastructure problems within the next five years.

Üstel said they would focus on “projects that make life easier” in the coming term, adding that they would implement projects aimed at reducing the burden on the public, supporting family budgets and directly addressing people's daily needs.

“Let our people be at ease. We will overcome this difficult period together. Over the next 80 days, we will announce our projects that will make life easier one by one,” Üstel said.

In a statement titled “Projects That Make Life Easier,” Üstel said the region and the world were going through a difficult period.

‘OUR REGION IS GOING THROUGH DIFFICULT TIMES’

Üstel claimed that rhetoric about war in the Mediterranean was increasing and argued that the Greek Cypriot administration’s strategic mistakes and cooperation with war lobbies were drawing the island into a dangerous period of tension.

He said the global economy was also sounding alarm bells and that a difficult period lay ahead economically.

Üstel said they had never used global problems as an excuse when addressing the public, adding that over the past five years they had increased the minimum wage fivefold, raised it above the European average in foreign-currency terms, and brought per-capita national income to its highest levels in history.

‘WE COMPLETED PROJECTS THAT HAD BEEN LEFT UNFINISHED’

Üstel said they had completed unfinished projects, launched new ones and carried out reforms during their term in office, adding that they had delivered major projects for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

He said they were preparing to face the public again on December 6, adding that during the process they would outline the projects, services, reforms and major works already completed, as well as investments planned for the next term and new projects that would directly affect people's lives.

‘WE KNOW THE BURDEN OUR FAMILIES ARE CARRYING’

Üstel said they were aware that people were going through difficult times and knew the burden families were carrying, from education and healthcare to transportation and housing.

Pointing to mortgage payments and household expenses, Üstel said they could see the difficulties experienced by households despite rising incomes and that they were experiencing the struggle against the rising cost of living together with the public.

He stressed that they would therefore focus on “projects that make life easier” in the new term.

‘OUR PRIORITY WILL BE OUR FAMILIES’

Üstel said they would enter the new term with projects aimed at reducing the burden on the public, contributing to family budgets and directly addressing everyday needs.

“I am saying this clearly: Let our people be at ease. We will overcome this difficult period together.

“Over the next 80 days, we will announce our projects that will make life easier one by one.

“Our priority in the new term will be our families. We will find solutions to the problems experienced inside people’s homes.”

‘WE WILL CONTINUE OUR MAJOR INVESTMENTS’

Üstel said they would continue major investments with the strong support of the Republic of Turkey, implement major vision projects and resolve the country’s infrastructure problems within the next five years.

Saying they would take the country toward a stronger future, Üstel concluded:
