Amcaoğlu: UBP and CTP Should Form Government

Regarding a possible bid for the UBP leadership, he said his priority was the December 6 election, adding, “Let’s cross the stream in front of us first, then we’ll look at the other seas.”

Speaking on Kanal T, Amcaoğlu discussed current affairs and his political future.

Amcaoğlu argued that a coalition between UBP and CTP should be formed, saying, “The UBP-CTP coalition should finally become a reality.”

Appearing on Kanal T’s “Aytuğ Türkkan ile Manşet” programme, Amcaoğlu said both UBP and CTP had expressed their commitment to the country and its people, and argued that the two parties should form a government together and take steps based on the country’s needs.

Describing UBP and CTP as two established parties with a significant legacy in the country’s past and ideas for its future, Amcaoğlu said a coalition government could implement projects needed by the country. He added that he had personally conveyed this view to CTP Chairwoman Sıla Usar İncirli.

Addressing whether he would run for the UBP leadership, Amcaoğlu stressed that his priority was the election to be held on December 6.

“Let’s cross the stream in front of us on December 6 first, then we’ll look at the other seas,” Amcaoğlu said, without taking a definitive position at this stage on a leadership bid.

Sending messages about the process within the party, Amcaoğlu said he would not adopt a destructive approach after his departure, adding, “I won’t say, ‘After me, I’ll burn Rome like Nero.’”

MESSAGE OF SUPPORT FOR Hasan Taçoy

Amcaoğlu also spoke about Hasan Taçoy, who took over his ministerial post, and signalled that he was ready to support him.

“I told Hasan Taçoy that if he needs help, all he has to do is call,” Amcaoğlu said.

“MY REMOVAL FROM OFFICE WAS NOT ABOUT SUCCESS OR FAILURE”

Amcaoğlu also addressed his removal from the ministry, arguing that the decision should not be linked to his performance.

“My removal from office was not about success or failure,” he said.

Amcaoğlu said he held no resentment over being removed from the ministry and added that he was ready to serve if he was given another position in the future.

Commenting on the election schedule, Amcaoğlu said he believed there were advantages to holding the two elections simultaneously.
