Çetinkaya on CFA: “No History Is Complete Without Its Founders”
Çetinkaya Turkish Sports Club has highlighted its role as a founding member of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), marking the federation’s 92nd anniversary with a social media post featuring historical photographs.
Under the headline “The True Son of Turkish Cypriot Football and the CFA: Çetinkaya,” the club emphasized its historical ties to the federation, of which it was one of the founding members in 1934.
The club said Çetinkaya’s “hard work, signature and spirit” were part of the CFA’s establishment, while expressing disappointment and regret over the club’s current absence from the federation.
“Çetinkaya is the cradle of football on these lands,” the club said, while congratulating the CFA on its 92nd anniversary.
The statement concluded with the message: “No history is complete when written without its true owners and founders.”

The visual accompanying the post featured numerous black-and-white photographs from different periods in Çetinkaya’s history.
The phrase “We Will Be Back Where We Belong” appeared at the top of the graphic, alongside a reference to the CFA’s 92-year history from 1934 to 2026.
The graphic also listed some of Çetinkaya’s historic achievements, including the 1950-51 CFA League title, the 1951-52 and 1953-54 Cyprus Cup titles, and Pakkos Shield championships in 1951, 1952 and 1954.
The photographs included Çetinkaya players from different eras, historic images of teams posing with trophies and various squad line-ups, highlighting the club’s history within the CFA and its longstanding place in Turkish Cypriot football.
