Parliament Approves Abolition of Mixed Voting System
The TRNC Parliament has approved by a majority vote the Election and Referendum (Amendment No. 2) Bill, which was reconsidered by the General Assembly after being returned by the President for further review.
The bill was discussed during the fourth Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly, which began at around 12:45 p.m. under the chairmanship of Parliament Speaker Ziya Öztürkler.
Following the debate, the bill was approved by a majority vote.
Under the amendment, the mixed voting system used in elections will be abolished.
