Şahali Reacts to Abolition of Mixed Voting: “They Made Voters Pay the Price”

“Those who would do anything for a single ‘tick’ have made the voter pay the price; they changed the election law in the middle of an election period. When the ballot box comes, they will certainly get an answer many times over,” Şahali said.

Commenting on the abolition of mixed voting, Şahali said voters had been using their votes consciously for years and criticized the arguments put forward in favor of removing the system.

“So apparently, voters have not known what they were doing all these years. Apparently, votes were being wasted, opportunists were running rampant, and voters were being deceived!” Şahali said.

“So what did they do? They removed the mixed voting option from the law, while insulting the voters in the process. Those who would do anything for a single ‘tick’ have made the voter pay the price; they changed the election law in the middle of an election.”

Şahali said the amendment would not create a problem for CTP, adding: “It makes no difference to us! Voters who, simply out of personal loyalty, gave a few votes to them despite all their shortcomings will now put their stamp on themselves and their future.”

Saying that voters know whom they vote for and why, Şahali concluded:

“We know our voters. They are smart and alert; they know very well whom they vote for and why. Those who have managed to secure a few votes through personal loyalties have now taken it upon themselves to lecture voters. When the ballot box comes, they will certainly get an answer many times over!”
