KIB-TEK: Claims Over Financial Accounts Do Not Reflect the Truth
The Turkish Cypriot Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) management has responded to statements made in the TRNC Parliament and reported by some media outlets regarding the institution’s financial accounts, saying the claims “do not reflect the truth.”
KIB-TEK said its monthly VAT declarations had been submitted and the relevant payments made within the legal deadlines. It also stated that the institution’s year-end accounts were prepared annually and submitted to the relevant institutions and departments in line with its legal obligations.
“STATEMENTS DO NOT REFLECT THE TRUTH”
KIB-TEK management said statements made from the floor of the TRNC Parliament “do not reflect the truth.”
The management said the statements were misleading to the public and politically motivated ahead of the election, criticizing accusations of corruption made without examining the institution’s accounts.
“It is nothing more than bringing the issue onto the political agenda when corruption allegations are made without seeing the institution’s accounts,” the statement said.
“ASSESSMENTS SHOULD BE BASED ON FACTS”
KIB-TEK emphasized that assessments concerning its financial operations should be made with a proper understanding of the institution’s accounts.
The statement said accusations made without knowledge of KIB-TEK’s financial records could not be accepted, stressing that assessments of the institution’s financial operations should be based on its existing accounts and available information.
The statement concluded by recalling a remark previously made by the Prime Minister: “We have no accounts we cannot explain.”
