BRTK Director Meryem Özkurt Resigns
Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation (BRTK) Director Meryem Özkurt has announced her resignation, saying, “I am stepping down from my position because I deem it necessary.”
In her statement, Özkurt thanked her colleagues for their efforts on behalf of BRTK, saying:
“I would like to thank my colleagues for all the work we have done together for BRTK, and my colleagues who have worked day and night alongside me to make the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people heard around the world. I thank them on behalf of the Corporation and, most importantly, on behalf of everyone whose heart beats for their country.”
Özkurt concluded her statement by saying, “I have lived my life with honour and pride, without ever bowing my head. From now on, God willing, I will continue to do so, and I am resigning from my position as director.”
