Üstel: We Will Again Emerge as the Largest Party

“We will again emerge from the ballot box as the largest party, and we will increase our strength. We will continue our work,” Üstel said.

UBP Chairman and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel visited Beşparmak, Alagadi, Arapkoy and Çatalköy, meeting with local residents.

Speaking during the visits, Üstel said one of the government’s first major initiatives had been the Municipalities Reform. Recalling that there had been 28 municipalities when they took office and that many municipalities had been unable to pay salaries, he said:

“Before the reform, propaganda was carried out claiming that municipal employees would be dismissed. Far from laying people off, we improved employees’ wages and salaries. Today, none of our municipalities has a problem paying salaries.”

Üstel said municipalities had now become institutions capable of providing services to the public.

“The architect of all this is the National Unity Party government and our MPs. We believe in our state. We are working to strengthen all the institutions of our state,” he said.

Üstel said the UBP’s work had been appreciated by the public, adding: “Whatever they do, what is right is right. We did it; the National Unity Party did it.”

“THEY HAVE BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO FINDING THINGS READY AND CONSUMING THEM”

Criticising previous governments, Üstel said: “They have become accustomed to finding things ready and consuming them. We, on the other hand, have never allowed our people to suffer. We have provided our workers, farmers, livestock breeders and public employees with the highest levels of support.”

Recalling that the Girne-Çatalköy road had been brought to the region, Üstel said work was also continuing on the Acapulco-Değirmenlik road.

“All the investments made in Çatalköy to date were carried out during UBP governments or under UBP mayors. Nobody should try to claim ownership of the projects we have implemented. This public remembers all the projects that have been carried out,” he said.

Üstel criticised the Esentepe-Çatalköy Municipality, saying its work in recent years had amounted to “cosmetic municipalism.”

“Çatalköy has lost enough time. Starting December 6, when National Unity Party candidate Derviş Albayrak takes office, Çatalköy will once again receive the services it deserves,” he said.

“UBP GOVERNMENTS ARE BEHIND THE PROJECTS IN OUR COUNTRY”

Üstel highlighted projects delivered by UBP governments and claimed that the opposition had failed to bring lasting projects to the country during previous periods in government.

“After the establishment of our state, did they bring anything to our country? Did they drive a single nail? If they did drive one nail, I will hang my jacket on it,” Üstel said.

He added that major projects across the country had been implemented under UBP governments.
