Çeler: TDP Targets Strong Representation in Parliament
The Communal Democracy Party (TDP) has said its goal is to secure strong representation in the TRNC Parliament and local government.
TDP reviewed its objectives for the December 6 elections at a meeting attended by party officials and supporters. The meeting also discussed the party congress scheduled for Sunday, October 18, preparations for the elections and work being carried out under the party’s “Good Future Vision.”
According to a statement issued by TDP, Chairman Zeki Çeler emphasized the importance of the election for the party, saying its objective for December 6 was for TDP to emerge strongly from the ballot box.
Çeler also stressed that electoral success should not be limited to the results at the ballot box, saying the main objective was to strengthen a political approach capable of responding to society’s expectations, producing solutions and assuming responsibility.
Çeler said joint efforts by party cadres would be decisive during the election campaign, adding that TDP’s “Good Future Vision” was not an electoral objective but a long-term political approach.
Harmancı: “From 9% Awareness to 12 Years of Trust”
Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) Mayor Mehmet Harmancı recalled that when he first sought office in 2014, his public recognition stood at 9%, and there had been doubts about his chances of success.
He said the situation had changed as the promises made to the public were fulfilled.
Harmancı said a goal that had seemed difficult to believe in the early days had now evolved into 12 years of administrative experience and strong public trust. He said they were now working with the goal of extending this success to 16 years.
Ekinci: “Country First, Party Second”
TDP Secretary-General Redif Ekinci said the party’s fundamental political approach was based on the principle of “Country first, party second.”
Ekinci said politics was not only about winning elections, but also about bringing together the right people and using their knowledge, experience and expertise for the benefit of society.
He said TDP continued to operate according to this approach.
Emphasizing the importance of merit, Ekinci described the December 6 elections as an important starting point for the party’s 2030 objectives and said the “Good Future Vision” would serve as the main roadmap for this process.
The meeting also discussed views and recommendations concerning the election manifesto, the timetable for fieldwork and coordination between party organizations.
