İncirli: CTP Is the People’s Hope
Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Sıla Usar İncirli said the party was ready for the December 6 elections during visits to Tepebaşı, Sadrazamköy and Kayalar, declaring: “CTP is the people’s hope; together we will light up this darkness.”
The meetings, held amid power cuts, attracted considerable participation, with CTP presenting itself as a beacon of hope for local residents. Addressing residents, İncirli said: “CTP is the people’s hope. We will work hard to ensure these bad days come to an end. We will finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief. Together, we will light up the darkness they have created.”
İncirli was accompanied during the visits by CTP Secretary-General Mehmet Kale Kişi, several MPs, Turan Rahvancıoğlu, the party’s candidate for mayor of the Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel (LAÇ) Municipality, as well as other candidates and party members.
Listening to residents’ demands and suggestions, İncirli also outlined the party’s vision for the region.
İNCİRLİ: CTP WILL TAKE ACTION ON ENERGY IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKING OFFICE
Drawing attention to the power cuts experienced during the visits, CTP leader Sıla Usar İncirli said the problems in the energy sector were directly linked to the current administration’s approach to governance.
Recalling that CTP had repeatedly called for investment in the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (Kıb-Tek), İncirli criticised the government’s energy policies.
“We have spent years explaining that Kıb-Tek needs investment, that it must be managed by experts and that people’s energy needs must be met on time. But they did nothing. That is why there is no electricity this evening. All of this is connected to politics,” she said.
İncirli pledged that CTP would take action on energy immediately after coming to power.
“We will ensure that there are no power cuts and that electricity generation can continue at the highest possible level,” she said.
“WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO CREATE A COUNTRY WHERE YOUNG PEOPLE CAN BUILD THEIR OWN LIVES”
Addressing other problems affecting the region, İncirli said CTP would tackle water distribution as soon as it took office and ensure that water was distributed fairly.
She added that a CTP government would also focus closely on the problems facing livestock farmers, stressing that animal husbandry and agriculture were particularly important to the region.
“We will establish an economic model based on production, and we will stand by our producers,” she said.
İncirli also emphasised the importance of enabling young people to remain in production and build their futures in the country.
“We will create opportunities for young producers. We have a responsibility towards young people. We are responsible for creating a country where young people can build their own lives and stand on their own feet,” she said.
“OUR PARTY WILL COME TO POWER STRONGLY AT BOTH LOCAL AND NATIONAL LEVELS”
Referring to the elections scheduled for December 6, İncirli stressed that CTP was ready to take office.
“December 6 will be a very important day. With the will of the people, our party will come to power strongly at both local and national levels. We will come to serve the public. We are ready to take on this responsibility, and we have prepared our teams. We will begin a new era together with the people,” she said.
İncirli reiterated that CTP represented the public’s hope, arguing that the damage caused by the current government extended far beyond power cuts and that the country faced serious problems in many areas.
She said CTP was determined to overcome the situation together with the public, repeating: “CTP is the people’s hope. We will work hard to ensure these bad days come to an end. We will finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief. Together, we will light up the darkness they have created.”
TALAT: THE PEOPLE WANT CHANGE
CTP Kyrenia District chairman and MP Ongun Talat, in opening remarks during the visits, said the country had been subjected to poor governance for years, pointing to the power cuts as one example.
Talat said the public deserved change and highlighted the growing demand for a new direction. Describing the period under the current administration as “a seven-year horror film,” he said the existing approach to governance had to come to an end.
He also stressed that CTP’s efforts to take control of the central government were inseparable from its work in local government. Talat said the party was working with strong motivation to establish a CTP-led administration in the Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel region as well.
RAHVANCIOĞLU: WE HAVE PREPARED PROJECTS BASED ON THE REGION’S NEEDS
CTP’s LAÇ mayoral candidate Turan Rahvancıoğlu said the party had set out to bring its “Service for Everyone” approach to the region and outlined its planned projects.
Rahvancıoğlu said the party had first examined the municipality’s financial position to develop realistic and feasible proposals. He noted that most of the municipality’s existing budget was allocated to expenditure, leaving insufficient resources for investment.
Based on their calculations, Rahvancıoğlu said approximately 600 million TL in additional funding could become available in 2027.
He identified the region’s priority needs as infrastructure investment, improvements to rainwater drainage systems, road renovations and the construction of a new secondary school to accommodate the growing student population.
