Christodoulides Says Erhürman Meeting Was “Good”
Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides made statements following his meeting with President Tufan Erhürman today.
According to the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (RIK), Christodoulides told reporters upon his return to the Presidential Palace that the meeting, which he described as “good”, had covered substantive issues and methodology.
Christodoulides said he had put forward two concrete proposals concerning crossing points, claiming that “one was not accepted, while more time was requested to consider the other”.
Asked whether his proposals concerned the Athienou–Pyroi (Kiracıköy–Gaziler) crossing point, Christodoulides said this crossing point was a fundamental prerequisite and that his proposal concerned an additional issue.
Christodoulides also claimed that President Erhürman had agreed to two more of his 19 proposals on the Cyprus problem, which concern environmental issues and the exchange of cultural items.
He added that he would meet more than twice with the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Cyprus before the trilateral meeting.
The report also said the next meeting between Christodoulides and Erhürman would probably take place next Tuesday.
