TRNC Foreign Ministry Hails Turkey-Libya Decision as “Historic Step”
The TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the decision adopted by Libya’s House of Representatives concerning the Memorandum of Understanding on the Delimitation of Maritime Jurisdiction Areas between Turkey and Libya, saying it supports Turkey’s vision of establishing peace, security and stability in the Mediterranean.
In a statement, the ministry welcomed the decision adopted by Libya’s House of Representatives on October 20, 2026, regarding the memorandum signed between Turkey and Libya.
The statement described the decision concerning the memorandum, which has been in force since 2019, as a historic step shaped by the principles of international law and equity and reflecting the realities of the region.
It also stressed that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) fully supports, in a spirit of solidarity, the Republic of Turkey’s vision of establishing peace, security and stability across the Mediterranean basin.
The ministry hailed the Libyan parliament’s decision and reiterated its support for the agreement between Turkey and Libya.
