NAVTEX Issued for Natural Gas Pipeline Between Turkey and TRNC
A NAVTEX notice has been issued for a planned natural gas pipeline project between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Work will be carried out at 12 designated coordinates in the Mediterranean until December 31.
The announcement was issued by the Antalya NAVTEX Station on October 23. It stated that scientific research and underwater operations would be conducted at 12 designated coordinates in the Mediterranean between October 26 and December 31, 2026.
The operations will be carried out by the vessels R/V Denar Pathfinder, Denar Echo, Denar Explorer and Kırıcı. Mariners passing through the area have been advised to maintain a safe distance from the vessels conducting the work.
The planned natural gas pipeline between Turkey and the TRNC aims to deliver natural gas from Turkey to the island in the coming period and strengthen the TRNC’s energy supply security.
The project is regarded as one of the significant steps towards developing energy infrastructure between the two countries, following the construction of the underwater water supply pipeline from Turkey to the TRNC.
The NAVTEX notice stated that the announcement would be cancelled on December 31, 2026.
