Re-Birth Party (YDP) leader Erhan Arıklı appeared on the “22 Minutes: Election Special” programme, hosted by Ramazan Adnan on MYK TV, where he discussed the election process, the YDP’s candidate lineup and the party’s goals for the new term.

Stating that the YDP was preparing for the election with a strong and experienced team, Arıklı said the party had continued its work in unity and solidarity following the candidate selection process.

Addressing the electoral system, Arıklı said the YDP had advocated the abolition of the mixed voting system since 2016, adding that voters should evaluate political parties based on their programmes, projects and performance.

Speaking about the governments that could be formed after the election, Arıklı stressed that the YDP could hold talks with both the National Unity Party (UBP) and the Republican Turkish Party (CTP). However, he said that this time the coalition protocol would be made public and all government actions would be tied to a timetable.

Arıklı listed public sector reform, a shift system, employment opportunities for young people, public transport and the fight against the rising cost of living among the YDP’s priorities.

Emphasising that “there is now a need for a government that does not merely talk, but sets deadlines and implements its plans,” Arıklı called on voters to assess political parties based on what they had and had not accomplished.
