Plot to Carry Out Armed Attack on Car Dealership in Nicosia Foiled
Nineteen-year-old B.G., who is accused of forming a secret alliance with a person living in Turkey to carry out a shooting attack on Tolcars, a car dealership operating in Nicosia, was arrested in Kyrenia. The court ordered that the suspect remain in police custody for three days as part of the investigation.
Nineteen-year-old B.G., who was in Kyrenia as a tourist, was arrested and brought before a court over allegations that he had formed a secret alliance to carry out a shooting attack on Tolcars, a car dealership operating in Nicosia.
Police officer Emre Özdiken, who testified in court regarding the case, presented the findings of the investigation.
Police said an investigation was launched following information received at around 11 pm on 30 October 2026.
The suspect was allegedly planning to open fire on Tolcars together with an unidentified male individual living in Turkey and had formed a secret alliance with the intention of committing a serious crime, police said.
Police stated that the suspect was located in Kyrenia on the same day and that a search was conducted at his residence in the Kaşkar area, but no illegal items were found.
Police said the suspect had given a voluntary statement on 30 October and was arrested on 31 October under a warrant.
Noting that the investigation was still at an early stage, police said further statements needed to be taken and security camera footage examined. They also said the suspect’s voluntary statement would need to be verified and disproved.
Arguing that the suspect could interfere with the investigation if released, police requested that he be remanded in custody for three days.
After evaluating the testimony presented, Judge Dilem Akçaba ordered that the suspect remain in police custody for three days as part of the investigation.
