The meeting between President Tufan Erhürman and United Nations (UN) Secretary-General’s Personal Representative on Cyprus María Angela Holguín Cuéllar has concluded.

The meeting lasted 35 minutes.

Speaking to the press afterwards, Holguín said she had come to put several questions to Erhürman on specific issues, which was why the meeting had been brief. Erhürman made no statement following the meeting.

Referring to the trilateral meeting scheduled for Monday, November 9, Holguín said: “We discussed how we can continue working to achieve progress on Monday.”

Holguín also answered a question about her meeting yesterday with Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia Ali Murat Başçeri, saying that Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister had sent her a message through Başçeri.

Stating that she had met with the Ambassador to receive the message, Holguín said she had also conveyed its contents to Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, whom she met yesterday afternoon.
