<p><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Supporters of Egypt's deposed president Mohammed Mursi have rallied in thousands in Cairo to celebrate Eid and to demand the former president's reinstatement.</span></p><p>The Muslim Brotherhood vigil at Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque has been going for more than five weeks.</p><p>Demonstrators were treated to a surprise appearance on stage by Mursi's wife, Naglaa Mahmoud. She appealed to the crowds and to Egyptian authorities for her husband to be released and returned to power.</p><p>Despite threats by the interim government to clear the camp, the crowds at Rabaa al-Adawiya remain defiant.</p><p>Close by in Tahrir Square, Eid was also marked by crowds of supporters of the military.</p><p>Interim President Adly Mansour says mediation efforts by US, EU and Arab envoys have failed. The US and EU say the situation in Egypt remains "fragile".</p>
